Everest Gokyo Lake & Renjo La Pass Trek

Overview

Gokyo Renjo Pass Trek has some special highlights because when you reach the Renjo Pass there is an incredible view of the Gokyo Lakes on one side, the Rerma Pokhari Lakes on the other with a background of numerous Himalayan Peaks, truly unforgettable! Eventually you must move on though because there is so much more as we take the path descending to the Thame Valley awaiting us below. Gokyo Renjo Pass Trek is the other option for a less traveled route similar to the Cho Pass. Like the Cho Pass this more difficult trek has it all.

This trek gives you the grand tour of the Khumbu area. Traveling through the Sagarmantha National Forest provides the opportunity to see the local vegetation and you might also encounter Musk Deer, Himalayan Tahr, Mountain Goats and others. You will likely also see Yak grazing in the local fields along with the local villagers. There are many ethnic villages to see including Nurning, Phakding, Benkar, Monjo, and more.

After the Renjo Pass the trail takes us to Namche Bazaar where we stop and rest. Next we go to the renowned Tengboche Monastery where we are privileged to take in the stunning peaks of Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Changtse. There is also the grand Khumbu Glacier, the Khumbu Icefall, and glacial rivers. On the return route we will pass through Namche again before reaching Lukla.
