Walking Tour of Kathmandu with Cooking Lesson

 

The Walking Tour of Kathmandu will give you an opportunity to explore the most unique sights of Kathmandu, including the oldest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal, Swayambhunath and the world famous Durbar Square. During the cooking class which follows, you will be taught how to make traditional Nepali dishes by the friendliest cooking staff you could imagine.

About the Tour:

Your tour begins with a visit to Sayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple due to its residents. Perched on the hilltop it is the oldest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal,  offering a bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu valley. The major highlight of the tour is the large Stupa on the top but there are several other Hindu temples as well. This unique interaction between Buddhism and Hinduism is difficult to find anywhere else.

 

As you explore the stupa, you will be mesmerized by the chants of prayers and fantastic sounds of ringing bells. Afterwards your guide will take you through the backstreets to Durbar Square. Durbar Square is a place where you can learn about the culture, history and religion of Nepal. You can see ancient temples, courtyards and markets selling crafts and fresh produce.

 

After finishing the walking tour you will meet your cooking teacher who will show you the menu of Nepali dishes you can choose to make. Once you have selected your meals you will be brought to buy the local vegetables, spices and other ingredients that you need. Your cooking lesson will provide you with an authentic Nepali experience, and hopefully you will want to continue making the dishes once you have returned home.
